ส่วน Apple กลับมาซื้อ NeXT ซึ่งทำให้ Jobs ได้กลับคืนสู่ Apple อีกครั้ง และเทคโนโลยีที่เขาได้คิดค้นขึ้นที่ NeXT ได้กลายมาเป็นหัวใจของยุคฟื้นฟูของ Apple

วิธีคิดเช่นนี้ยังเป็นวิธีที่ดีที่สุด ที่จะช่วยให้คุณไม่ตกลงไปในกับดักความคิดที่ว่า คุณมีอะไรที่จะต้องสูญเสีย เพราะความจริงแล้ว เราทุกคนล้วนมีแต่ตัวเปล่าๆ ด้วยกันทั้งนั้น
เมื่อปีที่แล้ว เขาได้รับการตรวจวินิจฉัยว่าเป็นมะเร็งที่ตับอ่อนชนิดที่รักษาไม่ได้ และจะตายภายในเวลาไม่เกิน 3-6 เดือน แพทย์ถึงกับบอกให้เขากลับไปสั่งเสียครอบครัวซึ่งเท่ากับเตรียมตัวตาย
แต่แล้วในเย็นวันเดียวกัน เมื่อแพทย์ได้ใช้กล้องสอดเข้าไปตัดชิ้นเนื้อที่ตับอ่อนของเขาออกมาตรวจอย่างละเอียด ก็กลับพบว่า มะเร็งตับอ่อนที่เขาเป็นนั้นแม้จะเป็นชนิดที่พบได้ยากก็จริง แต่มีวิธีรักษาให้หายขาดได้ด้วยการผ่าตัด และเขาก็ได้รับการผ่าตัดและหายดีแล้ว
